Brenda Kay Patrick & Dave Wheaton

Our Story

It's a classic case of love at second site! In their first meeting, Dave worked at a radio station, and Brenda was on a radio tour, promoting her first ever single. She played a song for his listeners, and Dave melted at the sound of her singing voice. Not many couples can say they have a recording of their first meeting, but Dave and Brenda do. After she sang, Dave asked her to include her song on his compilation CD, and Brenda agreed.
Brenda left, and they went their separate ways.
Months passed. An occasional email or greeting was passed, but nothing more than kind courtesty was shared.
Sometime in July of that same year, Dave, desperate to fill his calendar with live music, saw that there was an opening in Brenda's busy schedule.
An email request to "play somewhere closer to East Texas", and a reply with a desire to "play somewhere closer to East Texas" was all it took. One thing led to another, and before they knew it, Dave and Brenda were phone dating.
One night, Dave was emceeing a concert, and Brenda was playing 400 miles away in a town called Big Spring, TX. During her concert, she called Dave, so he could hear her play a song for him. “Dirt’s Still Red”. The same song she played when they first met. Dave’s ear-to-ear grin stayed for days…
Long, endless conversations that went to the crack of dawn took place, night after night, week after week, until finally, Dave had the courage to ask Brenda to meet him somewhere in between the 300 miles of highway that separated them. When she agreed, Dave was floored (but don't tell Brenda). They decided on a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. A nice, kid-friendly, public place with lots of witnesses!
The happy couple hit it off! The zoo trip turned into dinner afterward, a visit to the now immortal Newby Park…and a first kiss to top off the day! Headed their separate ways, they talked on the phone almost all the way back. They discussed their happiness, excitement, fears, and pretty much anything else that came to mind.
After several months of living on the philosophy that all they needed was 300 miles and a tank of gasoline, the couple decided it was time to find common ground, and take the burden of travel out of their relationship.
After searching for months, Dave found the opportunity to move to Big Spring (ironic, huh?) and bring Brenda with him. It seemed like, after an eternity of sustaining a long-distance relationship, the break Dave and Brenda needed had finally arrived!
It became immediately evident to both Brenda and Dave that they needed to be together 4ever. On his birthday, June 23rd, 2010, Dave proposed to Brenda, in what could only be considered a Big Spring media event that the locals are still talking about!

Our Wedding

Our Wedding will be held on October 23, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas.

Travel Arrangements

We plan on taking our honeymoon asap in 2011. We are looking forward to celebrating our marriage at the Jamacia Breezes all inclusive resort. While this isn't our first rodeo, this will be the first oppurtunity for both of us to have a real honeymoon! We very much appreciate any contribution towards it.

A Special Message From Us

Instead of pots and pans or dishes we would really love the oppurtunity to celebrate together by taking a trip to Jamiaca. We are not asking for any "normal wedding gifts" and have only registered for honeymoon contributions. If you would like to contribute, you can do so through this site, or there will also be a honeymoon gift box at the reception. We thank you all for your love and support, and we look forward to celebrating this wonderful occasion with you.
